The Story of Certified Golf
My name is Michael Midgette. I am a PGA Professional, Certified in Teaching & Coaching, that competes in many professional tournaments (around 30 a year) and loves to teach golf.
I am a professional that is aiming to educate the golf community on training aids and golf instruction. Training Aids are not meant to replace golf instructors and their lessons; they are great way to supplement the lessons you receive to help provide feedback when you are not receiving instruction.
I started playing golf when I was 15, went to a boarding school where students of the golf academy received instruction after school 4-5 days a week, was a scratch golfer in 3-4 years, and turned professional just 9 years after starting golf. I’ve been through a lot of lessons, have witnessed a ton more, and now I have coached more than 300+ students myself in the last 4-5 years since I started devoting some of my time to teaching.
Bottom line: Training aids are a great way to help speed up the time it takes to improve. They provide feedback of a feeling your instructor will normally give you during a lesson to fix your flaws. And most importantly, EXAGGERATION is key to fixing a swing flaw. Stepping outside of the ‘comfort zone’ is exactly that, uncomfortable, and this is necessary to changing a swing.
If you change nothing, nothing changes!
